It was a week before you had to fit into your new outfit and you wanted to look good. Let's face it, you've gained a few pounds over the past few years. With your hectic schedule and stressful life, you have no time to worry about your diet.

This has happened to me more than a few times! Here are little known secrets for the fastest way to lose 10 pounds that I have used time and again to lose 10 pounds quickly:
1. Eliminate Sugar
First of all, immediately ban any and all types of sugar from what you eat. Sugar will add empty calories that you don't need and will hinder your weight loss. And sugar hides in tons of different foods, so you have to look at the labels of everything you eat to get it out of your diet.
Be especially wary of fruit (that's right, do not eat fruit, it's loaded with sugar), sauces, ketchup, "low-fat" foods (they load them with sugar), and any and all sweets.
2. Eliminate Salt
Salt bloats you and causes you to retain water. Salt is also known as sodium. So be careful to read labels of foods you eat and look at the sodium content. The higher the sodium content, the worse it is for you. Just by cutting sodium from your diet, you can cut 2-3 pounds of retained water weight.
3. Increase Your Metabolism
One of the fastest ways to lose 10 pounds is to increase your metabolism. Your metabolism determines how quickly you burn the calories you eat. The easiest way to increase your metabolism quickly is to eat multiple small meals each day. An ideal goal is to eat 6 small meals per day, about 2 hours apart. Stick to this schedule and you will be a calorie burning machine in a few days.
4. DO NOT Fast
Contrary to popular belief, fasting, or not eating, can actually cause you to gain weight. This is because when you get hungry and do not eat, your body kicks in a defense mechanism whereby it slows down. It does this for survival. So, what happens when it slows down is it slows the rate that calories are burned. This is the last thing you need when trying to lose weight quickly.
5. Don't Eat After Your Last Meal
Stop snacking at night, plain and simple. After your last meal of the day (dinner for most people), don't eat anymore until the next morning. At night, your body is winding down from the day and wants to rest. By doing so, it slows down the rate of calories you burn, which is not what you want to lose weight.
Additional things you can do are to exercise and drink plenty of water - these are kind of no-brainers. And to be honest, they are not completely necessary to lose 10 pounds. Don't get me wrong, they can help, but are not as critical as the above items.
